This committee will raise questions regarding the ethical uses of scientific practices, the lack of restrictions which enable evidence tampering, the act of concealing important information from the public, and illegal uses of performance enhancing substances. As our world develops in producing more innovative and powerful technology, it becomes increasingly important to discuss and understand the risks of misuse, as well as finding ways to allow for the further development of science in a safe and ethical manner.
Dear Delegates,
Welcome to LABMUNC V! My name is Taara Sajdeh and I am a sophomore at Lab with this being my second year as a LABMUN delegate. I am immensely excited to be chairing the Special Political and Decolonization (SPECPOL) committee. MUN has been a gateway for many opportunities, allowing me a space to not only collaborate with delegates from around the country, but also allow me to learn what it means to be a leader. MUN is about diplomacy, debate, and discourse, and a successful delegate will be able to work alongside a number of people in order to acknowledge diverse perspectives while demonstrating leadership. Outside of Model UN, I enjoy running track and cross country, playing piano, advocating for equal opportunities, and watching Formula 1. Through thorough research and an adequate grasp of your countries’ position, I hope the SPECPOL committee will be able to bridge the gap between persistent debate and collaboration in order to solve many real world issues.
Best,
Taara Sajdeh
