Approximate Size: 40 single delegate delegations
This committee will focus on one of the most prevalent and life-threatening issues in many parts of the world for our topic: Clean Water and Sanitation Accessibility. This ongoing crisis continues to effect millions of people, many of whom are stuck in a cycle of persistent sickness, poverty, and poor health, resulting in millions of deaths due to water-related issues. In addition, the rise of global temperatures as a result of climate change, has severely impacted our critical water supply. In response, we must find solutions that will best increase clean water and sanitation accessibility to ensure the health and well-being of individuals while recognizing the global issues we face today.
Dear Delegates,
My name is Isabella Huang and I am thrilled to be your chair for the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) at LABMUNC this year. I’m a junior here at The University of Chicago Laboratory School, and this is my third year involved in Model UN, and I am so excited to be in this position! Outside of Model UN, I am a member of the volleyball team, actively participate in various art activities, and passionately dedicate my time to volunteering at my local food pantry, where I strive to make a meaningful impact in my community. This committee is incredibly important to me because it addresses a multitude of real-time issues and plays a significant role on the international stage, particularly in dealing with fundamental human rights concerns. Throughout this committee, I hope all delegates will engage in diplomatic discussions, actively collaborate with a diverse group of students, and contribute innovative ideas. Most importantly, I hope you all will have fun!
Best,
Isabella Huang
