The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women works to promote advocacy, economic empowerment, political participation, and efforts to end violence against women. In committee, delegates will discuss what it takes to acheve Economic Recovery for Female Refugees. Depending on country policy and past initiatives, delegates must work collaboratively to create innovative yet feasible solutions to this internationally pressing issue.

Dear Delegates,
My name is Julia Machado, and I’m a sophomore here at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. I’ve been involved in Model UN for over a year, and I’m extremely excited to be chairing UN WOMEN for this conference! Outside of MUN, I enjoy playing sports as I am a part of the school's volleyball and soccer teams, as well as involved in the student council. This committee is extremely meaningful to me because gender equality and the empowerment of women are causes I care deeply about, and with an emphasis on diplomacy, I am confident that we can develop creative ideas, participate in meaningful discussions, and, above all, have a lot of fun!
