The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee focuses on issues related to human rights, social development, and the protection of marginalized groups. In this committee, delegates will discuss education in conflict areas. Delegates must work collaboratively to propose new and innovative solutions to this pressing issue. Depending on country policy and past international actions, delegates will have the opportunity to propose solutions applicable on a global scale to mitigate the issues surrounding climate migration.
Dear Delegates,
My name is Cecily Bensmaia and I'm a junior at Lab! This is my third year doing MUN, and I'm so unbelievably excited to be co-chairing SOCHUM this year, as it's one of my all-time favorite committees! Outside of MUN, I play soccer for Lab, I'm an editor of our newspaper, I'm Co-President of a Chicago non-profit, and I love to crochet and bedazzle things. I can't wait to see everyone's ideas for policy solutions, and I look forward to an exciting day of impactful debate!
My name is Sofia Caldentey and I am so exited to be co-chairing SOCHUM! This is my third year involved in model UN, and second year chairing at LABMUNC. Outside of MUN, I enjoy playing field hockey, painting, volunteering and spending time with my friends! I first joined MUN because I enjoyed the creative, professional and challenging environment that is unique to this activity, but what I love most about it is the friends I have made these past two years. During committee I hope delegates are able to create innovative and feasible solutions, compromise and collaborate together. I can’t wait to see what each of you bring to the table as delegates!!
Best,
Cecily Bensmaia & Sofia Caldentey
