LEGAL, the sixth committee of the General Assembly, is responsible for matters including the development and codification of international law. It serves as the primary forum for discussing legal issues, drafting new treaties, and assisting the General Assembly in its work on international law and justice. In committee, delegates will discuss the globally pressing issue of human trafficking. Through understanding country policy and reviewing previous global initiatives, delegates must collaborate to establish feasible and creative solutions to this issue.
Dear Delegates,
I'm Tess Weitzman, and I am a sophomore at University of Chicago Lab Schools. I've been in Model UN since I was a freshman and I am looking forward to chairing LEGAL this year. In addition to MUN, I play soccer and tennis, am starting my own business, and am a board member for my BBYO chapter. In my free time I like to write, cook, be with my family, and do fun things with my friends. My favorite thing about MUN is how much it helps people improve upon critical thinking and on the spot speaking skills. In this committee, I hope that we will be able to create a collaborative and productive environment where everyone will be able to improve upon their speaking skills. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in December!
Best,
Tess Weitzman
