The International Maritime Organization focuses on improving the safety, security, and environmental sustainability of international shipping. In this committee, delegates will attempt to ensure safe and sustainable navigation in emerging Arctic shipping lanes. Delegates must work to develop practical and innovative solutions that balance economic development with environmental and international concerns. Depending on country policy and previous international actions, delegates will propose solutions to address challenges such as territorial disputes, maritime safety, environmental risks, and the regulation of Arctic shipping.

Dear Delegates,
My name is Tanvir Singh, and I am a sophomore at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. I joined MUN at the start of my freshman year, and for this year, I will be your chair of IMO. Outside of MUN, I run cross country, and I serve as the Assistant Director of Initiatives for the Junior Economic Club of Chicago. As your chair, I hope to create an engaging and collaborative environment where delegates can work together to form feasible solutions. I'm looking forward to hearing all of your ideas, and can't wait to meet you all in December!
